Cashew kernels are graded on the W scale, where the number is the count of kernels per pound. W180 is the largest and most valuable whole white kernel, W320 the most widely traded. Broken grades sell into paste and bakery. Raw cashew nuts in shell are traded separately on outturn, the kernel yield per 80 kg bag.

Buy direct with nobody checking and you find out about the missing phytosanitary certificate, or the aflatoxin reading, at the border. One thing to watch. Kernels are shipped vacuum-packed in 22.68 kg (50 lb) tins or flexipacks under nitrogen or carbon dioxide. Vacuum integrity on arrival is a contractual quality condition, not a packaging detail.

We appoint an independent inspection agency at origin. They check quantity, quality against what was contracted, and the condition of the packaging, all before the shipment is released for loading. That certificate is what any later claim rests on.
